Introduction to Photography and your Camera
This four week course will teach the camera basics and invite students to start seeing their world photographically. Students are expected to use their cameras weekly by shooting homework assignments.
Some topics covered will include:
choosing memory cards, white balance, viewfinder types, the shutter and shutter speeds, the aperture and f-stops, creative exposure modes, drive modes, ISO values, the lens and focal length choices, auto focus, rules of composition part one, and depth of field part one. This course also teaches shooting simple outdoor portraits and landscapes while making use of available light.
Intermediate Photography
This four week course continues the photographic journey where Introduction to Photography and Your Camera ends. Students will be expected to complete weekly assignments.
A private excusion for the class to the Western Development Museum is included.
Please note: students should have a good understanding of their camera and/ or have taken the Introduction to Photography and Your Camera course. Introductory topics will be touched on but not taught.
Some topics covered will include:
depth of field part two, manual focus and hyperfocal distance, rules of composition part two, metering patterns, exposure compensation, the camera meter and manual exposure, night photography, and flash photography. This course also teaches shooting indoor portraits using window light.
